The Yuma Force-Balance Seismometer design was created by David Nelson, analyzed in detail by Brett Nordgren, and built also by a group of friendly and interesting amateur instrument builders who had the interest and drive to do so. One of the design goals was to achieve professional grade performance with a system that would be within reach of determine amateurs. A key benefit of pursuing this project has been the stimulating interactions between these interesting people on an email forum where all kinds of ideas, details, experiences, problems, and solutions are discussed all of which relate in some way to Force Balanced Seismometers.
This site is an attempt to help that group grow by making it a little easier for newcomers to build this excellent instrument so they can also enjoy the process and the results. |
